Ingredients

  • 1 lb ziti pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage optional
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. 2. Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. 3. In a large pot, cook ground beef or sausage over medium heat until browned. Add minced garlic, dried basil, and dried oregano. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. 4. Add marinara sauce to the meat mixture. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. 5. In a large bowl, combine cooked ziti, meat sauce, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Mix well.
  6. 6. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
  7. 7. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. 8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
