Main Ingredients
- 1 package phyllo dough thawed if frozen
- 2 cups mixed nuts finely chopped
- 1 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Butter the bottoms and sides of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Layer 8 sheets of phyllo dough in the baking dish, buttering each sheet as you layer.
Combine chopped nuts and cinnamon. Sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons of the mixture over the phyllo dough.
Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with about 6-8 layers of phyllo dough.
Using a sharp knife, cut into diamond or square shapes all the way to the bottom of the dish.
Bake for about 45 minutes until baklava is golden and crisp.
Make the syrup while baklava is baking. Boil sugar and water until sugar is melted. Add vanilla and honey. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
Remove baklava from oven and immediately spoon the syrup over it. Let cool completely before serving.
