Ingredients

  • 1 cup Basmati rice rinsed
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee or oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2. In a saucepan, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and sauté until fragrant.
  3. 3. Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the rice with the ghee or oil.
  4. 4. Pour in the water and add salt. Bring to a boil.
  5. 5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover with a lid, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  6. 6. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
