Ingredients 

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Toppings

  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a smooth batter forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the batter rise for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Using a spoon, drop small amounts of batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove loukoumades with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve warm.
