Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Toppings
- ½ cup honey
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a smooth batter forms.
Cover the bowl with a towel and let the batter rise for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
Using a spoon, drop small amounts of batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Remove loukoumades with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve warm.
