Chicken and Broth
- 1 whole chicken cut into pieces
- 8 cups water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tablespoon butter melted
1. In a large pot, add the chicken and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
2. Remove the chicken from the pot and let it cool. Shred the chicken, discarding the bones and skin.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir in milk and melted butter to form a dough.
4. Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the simmering broth. Cook for 15 minutes or until dumplings are cooked through.
5. Add the shredded chicken back to the pot and stir to combine. Serve hot.
