Ingredients 

Cake Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup water
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In an ungreased 9x13 inch baking pan, sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. Make three wells in the dry ingredients. Pour oil into one well, vinegar into the second, and vanilla into the third. Pour water over all, and stir until smooth.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool.
